Councilmember Tyson's dedication to her community has not been limited to her time with City Year. In addition to her service as the Columbus program's founder, Councilmember Tyson served as the President of the City of Columbus' Civil Service Commission, where she worked tirelessly to inspire and maintain high levels of excellence in the delivery of city services, and promote efficiency and consistency in the Commission's policies. In 2007, Councilmember Tyson was elected to the Columbus City Council where she has brought her passion for her community and her mastery of consensus building, critical thinking, problem-solving, and planning to the Council. During her time as a member of Columbus City Council, Councilmember Tyson has served on multiple committees including the Work Force Development, Development, Health, Housing and Human Services, and Judiciary and Court Administration.
